The Ministry of Education and Science oversees all levels of schooling. Tajik is the official language of instruction, with Russian also widely used at higher levels. The academic year runs from September to June. Tajikistan has been implementing education reforms since independence in 1991, including participation in the Bologna Process for higher education.
