The Ministry of Education is responsible for implementing education policy and regulations. The academic year begins in mid-September and ends in late June or early July, lasting approximately 38 weeks across two semesters. Schools operate five days a week (Monday through Friday) for 198 days per year. Spanish is the language of instruction throughout all levels.

Consisted of Primary Education (Grades 1–6, ages 6–11) and Middle Education (Grades 7–9, ages 12–14). Upon completion, students were awarded the Certificado de Educación Básica.

Venezuela has both public and private universities. Bachelor's degrees (Licenciatura) typically take 4–5 years. Professional degrees in medicine, engineering, and law take 5–6 years. Master's degrees are 2 years. Note: due to Venezuela's ongoing political and economic situation, verification of credentials from Venezuelan institutions has become more complex.
